Ouzoud waterfalls excursion. Departure from Marrakech to visit the Ouzoud waterfalls, one of the most beautiful natural sites in Morocco. It is also the highest waterfall in North Africa, peaking at 100 m. To reach this natural point, a hike will take you up and down, amidst macaques, allowing you to admire the contrast of colors with the surrounding landscapes. These splendid waterfalls, over a hundred meters high, are one of the most remarkable natural sites in the Moroccan Atlas. They allow the Oued Ouzoud, a mountain torrent abundant in all seasons, to reach the Oued El Abid canyon, one kilometer away.
A path leads, among olive trees, to the foot of the waterfall. This path offers increasingly close views of the falls. One can descend to the bottom of the depression, where the torrent rushes in with a deafening roar.
From the height of the fall, the view of the chasm is impressive. At the edge of the falls, several small wheat mills installed in narrow cabins are still in operation.
In the foliage bordering the waterfalls, visitors will sometimes have the chance to spot free-roaming monkeys. You can have lunch in one of the local cafes serving delicious tagines by the stream, while admiring the view of the waterfalls. Before returning to Marrakech in the afternoon.
